Depart on your flight to Athens, Greece. Upon arrival you will be met by your guide and driver after formalities and then taken to your hotel for an overnight. Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki.
After breakfast, you will have a Half-day tour to Ancient Corinth. Here under the shadow of the towering Acropolis, St. Paul preached and lived for two years. The vigorous and mostly Gentile Church he founded here in 50 AD caused him much grief and prompted him to write at least four letters to them. Visit the ruins of the ancient city where Paul worked with Aquila and Priscilla. See the remains of first century shops, the agora where Paul's trial by Gallio took place, the Fountain of Peirene, Temple of Apollo and the Bema. Visit Mycenae and Epidaurus. Dinner and overnight in Athens.
We will visit the Acropolis to see the Propylae, the Erectheum and the Parthenon. We shall also ascend Mars Hill, view the Agora (ancient market place where Paul spoke to the ancient Athenians). We will also see the House of Parliament, the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Presidential Palace, Hadrian's Arch and the Panathenaic Stadium. At around noon depart to Kalambaka. The drive is about 5 hours for a visit and dinner and overnight in Kalambaka.
Visit Meteora Monasteries - among striking scenery, perched on top of huge rocks, which seem to be suspended in mid-air, stand ageless monasteries - where you can see exquisite specimens of Byzantine art. Continue via the new highway to Thessaloniki. Paul preached in Thessaloniki during the winters of 49-50 AD and wrote two epistles to the ancient Thessalonians. We start our brief tour of Thessaloniki viewing the White Tower, the Triumphal Arch of Galerius standing on the Egnatia Way. DInner and overnight in Thessaloniki
Visit Philippi where Paul delivered his first sermon in Europe, sowing the seeds of Christianity. Here Paul baptized a "certain woman named Lydia» the first Christian convert in Europe. The Roman forum in Philippi, completely excavated, is from after Paul's time. Among the ruins, located on the rocky ledge above the town's main road is the prison of Paul and Silas. Still visible on the site are the remains of the two early Christian Basilicas and traces of via Egnatia. Continue into the modern port city of Kavala, ancient Neapolis, where Paul accompanied by Silas, Luke and Timothy, first set foot in Europe. Return to Thessaloniki. Upon arrival in Thessaloniki visit the church of St. Dimitrios. Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki.
Drive to Veria, located on the ruins of Ancient Beroea, one of Apostle Paul's stops to see the Byzantine mosaic in the monument commemorating his preaching. In Vergina, the first capital of the Macedonian Kingdom, we visit the “Vergina findings”, treasures of Ancient Macedonia and the tomb of King Philip II of Macedonia, father of Alexander the Great. Continue via the valley of Tempi, Kammena Vourla to Athens. Dinner and overnight in Athens.
