Children Camps & Groups

A program that is designed for group of children between ages 12-16. Specialized assistants will accompany the group throughout their journeys and activities, with an emphasis on safty and exploration. It can be designed to include adult family members

who have a desire to join such a program or have a separate program based on their wishes, or even have a different program catered specifically to your group.

Day 1 – Departure

7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Registration at airport and farewell to family members. Embark on your journey to the Holy Land. Upon arrival in Tel Aviv airport, and meeting your coordinators then boarding the bus, where you will have a first stop at the Mount of joy, the place where pilgrims would start their pilgrimage to Jerusalem. You will then retreat to your hotel for rest, dinner and overnight.

 Day 2 – Registration & Introduction

7:30 am to 8:00 am

8:00 am to 10:00 am

Presentation of why you are here - Introduction to your group and leaders and discussion of the meaning of pilgrimage and why people from all around the world embark on this sacred pilgrimage. Review all rules and regulations as well as safety procedures and responsibilities. We will also have an introduction to famous pilgrims – present the topography and  then distribution of shirts, hats, notebooks and map – review the schedule of activities, workshops, visits and tasks -

Tour the premises and enjoy some time to reflect on your journey of pilgrimage and discovery. Enjoy the company of your friends

12:30 am to 1:30 pm

Lunch to be served in the dining room at the guest house

1:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Prepare yourself: We will have a walking study tour to the ancient City of Jerusalem, where you will view the Holy shines and observe the daily life of local Christians, Muslims and Jews, as well as the pilgrims from around the world. You will have a nice walk entering the city at St. Stephens Gate, you will visit the Church of St. Anne as well as Ecce Homo to experience the initial layers of the Holy City from the time of our lord. You will then continue to the valley of Johoshaphat where you will examine the caves which re the burial places of kings and prophets. At the end of today’s route, you will visit the main tomb in the valley where the mother of God is buried before returning to the guest house

5:30 pm to 7:00 pm

Reflections: Form groups and discuss how the day has been, what was viewed, people and places seen, photos. Pray together then go to sleep

Day 3 – Discovering Christian culture

7:30 am to 8:00 am

Breakfast – Review of today’s program

8:00 am to 12:30 pm

Visit: Gather to board the bus, and like the ancient wise men, you will head to the Christian city of Bethlehem, to visit the cave of Nativity. You will start by arriving to the church of Nativity for liturgy. After visiting the Holy sites of Bethlehem and Shepherds field.

12:30 pm to 7:00 pm

Meet: You will visit the local Orthodox youth club where we arranged for you to meet with local Christians. You will have and make a barbeque together and exchange your experiences about your life and culture and continue together to visit some local sites. (possible to have a folklore dance show with traditional dances and costumes)

Learn: You will meet with shepherds in the valley and head to the workshops for olivewood carving, where you will observe and learn the secrets of this ancient trade.

Reflections: Discuss the importance of meeting people from other cultures, elaborate on your experience and share with your group the stories that have happened with those you have newly met.

 Day 4 – What you see

07:30am to 08:00am

Breakfast – Review of today’s program

Workshop: The environment around us. We will have an open discussion about the surroundings we live in and the importance of taking care of them and working together to keep our environment clean.

09:00am to 12:00am

Volunteer: As guests in the house, you will separate to groups and assist the house by cleaning the premises and cutting some weeds. You will then share in the planting of trees to commemorate your presence and support.

12:00pm to 01:00pm

01:00pm to 06:30pm

Visit: You will visit and study sites on the Mount of Olives, reaching the Russian Monastery and then the church of Ascension before reaching the Garden of Gethsemane.

06:30pm to 07:30pm

Reflection: we will have a group session to meet with a Russian-speaking priest from the Greek Orthodox patriarchate, who will inform us about the passing of Passion week with all its holy days, how Easter is celebrated in Jerusalem, and he will be happy to answer any questions which can be presented.

07:30pm to 09:00pm

 Day 5 – Life of the desert

7:30 am to 8:00 am

Breakfast – Review of today’s program

08:00am to 06:30pm

Visit: Embark on your journey to the wilderness of the Judean Desert. This is where the ancient prophets walked and where our lord fasted for 40 days. You will visit Jericho, the oldest continually inhabited city in the world where you will go to the Mount of Temptation, then after lunch head to the Oasis and caves of St. George of Khozevit before reaching the dead sea for a swim in its rich mineral waters at the lowest point on earth, then you will return to you guesthouse. (Possibility to visit the Equestrian school in Jericho for 2 hours)

Reflection: Now you will join in a small workshop to learn the techniques of weaving palm branches into crosses, and other items that the local congregations prepare for palm Sunday.

 Day 6 – Nazareth and Galilee

7:30 am to 8:30 am

Breakfast

08:30am to 07:30pm

Visit: Today you will continue in the footsteps of our lord as you will be travelling to Nazareth, where Christ lived and grew up with the Virgin Mary and Joseph. You will see the church of annunciation, the carpentry of Joseph and then to Mary’s well. We will then continue to visit Mt. Tabor the site of Christ’s Transfiguration and then we will visit Tabgha and Capernaum before boarding a boat on the lake. A lunch of the famous St. Peters fish will also be enjoyable. Return to Jerusalem to your guesthouse.

 Day 7 – Fun and activities

7:30am to 8:30am

Breakfast – Review of today’s program

8:30am to 12:30pm

Learn: You will board the bus and head to the Biblical zoo in Jerusalem, where you will learn about the animals that roamed the Holy Land in the time of Jesus.

12:30pm to 06:30pm

Fun: You will head towards the Mediterranean, visiting the ancient port of Jaffa and the town of Lydda before reaching the sea for some activities, swimming and relaxation. Board the bus and return to your guesthouse.

06:30pm to 07:30pm

Rest followed by dinner in the dining room

07:30pm to 09:30pm

Reflection: As you will be departing the Holy Land soon, you are instructed to create a small present from the Holy Land that you have collected along the way so you can give these presents to your family members and friends. You can collect olive branches, stones from the seas, any palm Sunday crosses you have made.

 Day 8 – Conclusion

7:30 am to 8:00 am

Conclusion: You will participate in this session to discuss and share your thoughts of what you have learned on this pilgrimage and trip of adventure. Share pictures and some of the souvenirs or treasures you collected on your visit, and then prepare yourself for departure. The remaining time you can spend at your leisure playing some games and chatting with friends.

Board the bus together and head to the airport for departure.
