TEL AVIV Arrival (JERUSALEM). Arrive (13:45 based on DL) at Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport, meet your UTA support staff and transfer to Jerusalem with a stop at the Mt. of Olives for a panoramic view of the city, continue to your guesthouse (House of Abraham) for check-in, dinner and rest. Group dinner at the guest house. (D)
JERUSALEM. Meet your guide for breakfast and depart on a walking tour to visit the sites and places of the Old City of Jerusalem. The walk starts by visiting the garden of the Gethsemane and the church of the Virgin Mary before entering into the Old city through St. Gate. Walk the stations of the Cross and visit the churches of St Ann, the pool of Bethesda, then to the Church of to visit the lower layers of the City to the time of the Romans. Continue to visit the Dome of the Rock and Al Aqsa Mosque, followed by the Western Wall. After Lunch proceed a center for children in the old city and discuss their various activities. Then finish the tour after visiting the church of the Holy Sepulchre. Return to guest house for dinner, discussion and rest.
JERUSALEM & Environs: After Breakfast you will be joined by a member of the Israeli Committee Against House Demlition for a tour in Jerusalem. After the tour, have lunch (optional) and then visit the Holocaust museum before heading to visit the Israeli organization, Betselem for a meeting and discussion. Return to hotel for overnight
FREE DAY: Spent at your own leisure (or any one of a selection of optional tours can be arranged)
BETHLEHEM. Morning departure by bus to visit Bethlehem. Enter through the separation wall and visit the Nativity church, the Milk Grotto and St. Catherine’s Church. Continue to the Beit Sahour (Shepherd’s field) YMCA for a visit with their staff and a discussion about their widely developed programs. After Lunch (optional) visit the SOS Children’s village, and then continue to the Bethlehem rehabilitation center to view their involvement in both a physical and psychosocial program with children in the area. Visit Aida refugee camp for a visit and a discussion with one of its coordinators then continue to Cremisan Monastery and Winery for some rest before returning to your hotel in Jerusalem. (Or a hotel can be arranged in Bethlehem – Good hotels, lower prices)
HEBRON & BIER SHEVA. Early morning departure to visit the Old City of Hebron before continuing south to Bier Sheva and visiting some of the Nomadic Beduin communities and women’s cooperatives in the area. Have a Beduin style lunch. Continue to visit to Masada, Qumran and Ein Gedi before reaching the Dead Sea for some relaxation and swimming. Continue to the oldest inhabited city in the world, reaching your hotel in Jericho for dinner and overnight.
JERICHO, TIBERIAS, NAZARETH. Morning departure to visit the city of Jericho and surrounding sites. Continue to the Sea of Galilee to visit Tiberias, Capernaum, Tabgha and Magdala. Take a cruise on the lake and enjoy a St. Peters fish lunch (optional) by the Lake. Continue to the city of Nazareth to visit the church of annunciation, the carpentry, synagogue, and then to Nazareth village before continuing to your hotel in Haifa for check-in, dinner and overnight.
HAIFA. After breakfast visit Stella Maris and the Baha’i Gardens before traveling to the University of Haifa. Over lunch meet and have a presentation by student or staff of the conflict resolution program (arranged by UTA) at the University. Continue to the Mediterranean beach for some relaxation and a swim before returning to your guesthouse for dinner and rest.
NABLUS. Morning departure to Nablus to visit the Balata Refugee Camp then to the Old City of Nablus. Continue to meet the volunteers at Project Hope before going to Lunch. Visit Tulkarem and Jenin before departing the West Bank to visit Tel Aviv and Jaffa and finally at Bat Yam on the Mediterranean for your last overnight.
DEPARTURE. Depending on your flight time, you will either have some free time in the morning (or we can arrange an optional tour to Caesarea Maritima, before heading to the airport)
